Kiley thought she needed to tell you all about her trip to the farm. Whenever the computer is out, she thinks its great to push the buttons.
This past Thursday, we went to a sheep farm with a few of our friends and their kids. Kiley's grandma Bishoff was also there with us. It was a lot of fun and the weather was perfect!!
Kiley was eating chocolate animal crackers in the car while we were waiting to leave.
Amy is one of the ladies who works on the farm and she showed us all around. She started by showing us the tractors. The kids loved getting to climb in and "drive." Kiley didn't get that chance but she had fun watching the kids.
This is my friend Christie's daughter Lily.
After the tractors, the kids got to see and pet the chickens. These are my niece and nephew, Joslyn and Evan. They have chickens at their house so they weren't overly impressed. Kiley was not the biggest fan of the chickens.
After the chickens, we got to see the pigs.
This is Kiley's first impression.
And her second impression of the pigs. I don't blame her.
After the pigs, we got to see the cows. We saw the beef cows and the one milk cow. The milk cow was a reject from the dairy farm because it only produces about 6 to 8 gallons of milk a day. Dairy cows, I found out, produce between 12 and 16 gallons a day. I'm glad I'm not a dairy cow. How would you like that?
Kiley LOVES cows. She saw some at her Great Grandpa Palmer's ranch a few weeks ago and couldn't get enough of them. They, however, got enough of her.
This is Eraleigh making friends with the milk cow.
Next on the tour, the sheep and baby lambs. They were adorable. (The lambs, not the sheep).
Baby Lamb
Kiley tried to pet every animal that she got close enough to.
These are orphan lamb. The white one at the back of the bucket is close to an average sized baby. The other ones are much, much smaller. The kids got to feed these lambs using bottles. Again, Kiley wasn't big enough to feed them so she got left out. She'll never know.
This little lamb is basking in the sun. Look how cute and fluffy he looks.
This lamb was born a few minutes before we got to the farm. He is just learning how to walk. The farmers were chasing the momma sheep to see if she had another baby still inside. Her uterus was still contracting so we thought we'd get to see another baby born. Well, she didn't have another one. But a different sheep was having a baby on the other side of the farm, so we went over to watch. It was really cool to watch. They had to hold her down so they could get the baby out quicker. It took about 30 seconds and the lamb was born. The momma had another baby inside but it had died some time ago so they opted to not deliver it while the kiddos were watching.
Breaking the umbilical cord.
Kiley loved to watch the sheep.
Kiley did not like to sit on the hay.

After we got to see everything on the farm, the kids played on the playground for a few minutes before it was time to say good-bye and head home.

I love this picture I took of Eraleigh. So I'm posting it.
My cute bug!

Looks like you all had a good time! See you this weekend!
